My Story
I have been a foodie for most of my life. When my husband and I were dating he would make me the most delicious meals and we would spend hours eating dinner, drinking wine and talking, mostly about food and wine. When we would go to dinner I would get very distracted when a waiter walked by with a dinner someone else ordered. I wanted to see what it was and if it looked good, I would make a mental note to order it next time.
Most Sunday nights were spent with our other foodie friends having long leisurely dinners. A typical starter would be buckwheat pancakes topped with a fried quail egg then sprinkled with caviar and finished off with a dollop of crème fresh. Totally serious! We also consumed a lot of fois gras, steak, duck and wild game. Many times these meals were ended with a cheese course and more wine.
Food was and still is a very important part of my life. A few years ago I began transitioning into a vegetarian diet. I didn’t enjoy eating meat like I once did so I knew it was time for a change.
It has been a long slow transition to my current high raw diet. I’m still transitioning, I think part of the reason I still eat some cooked foods is because I still like to go out and try new restaurants with my husband and friends. My husband is still a meat eating foodie and my son is a foodie in training. It can be challenging at times to make meals for my family. but I find a way to make it work. At the end of the day we all love food I just like mine raw.
I do agree, it is a challenge. Your new “higher education” will make it easy to hang in there. My son is 10 and took to raw foods like candy, my daughter on the other hand is 13 and pretty stuck in her processed food ways but constantly realizes the benefits the rest of us are getting from eating and unprocessed diet. In less than a year she dropped red meat, soda and dairy of her own volition. She is even eating leafy greens with most meals now. As we learn more it is getting easier and more comfortable for all of us. Peace!
That is so great that you daughter has given up all those foods on her own. It is so much better to give things up naturally when your body is ready to, than to feel forced into it. Sounds like your family is doing great.
